Some of you may have already seen Kiera around the salon, she is our new apprentice and started her training with us in September. We wanted to share a little more with you about Kiera and let her share her story as to why she wanted to be a hairdresser and what she’s looking forward to over the next two years of her training with us.
Kiera started as a Saturday girl last September in a salon based in Louth within a care home, letting her chat too many clients all day long. The salon was close to her home so she’s now having to enjoy life as a commuter into Lincoln or staying with her brother on the odd occasion. While working in the salon Kiera enjoyed being hands on and getting to expand her knowledge of hairdressing.
Kiera has always been a hands on kind of girl, and the idea of sitting at a desk all day was not the ideal job for her! She’s always enjoyed hair and had an interest from a young age, starting with cutting her barbies and dolls hairs. At the age of 8 her mum got her a hairdressing block head to help protect the barbies from Kiera’s scissor happy obsession! Hairdressing was always where Kiera’s passion lied.
Kiera has now done two weeks at college and has loved every minute of it, she can’t wait to learn more and be able to do her own clients. She’s excited to learn all aspects of hairdressing from colouring, cutting and styling. With working in Lincoln she hopes to have the prospect of having clients that are looking for exciting new colours and styles.
Make sure you say hello to her when your next in the salon!
